Description
Exterior boards are screw-fixed to light-gauge steel or timber framing to form the sheathing layer of an external wall. Boardex and similar products typically combine a moisture-resistant gypsum core with glass-fibre mat facings instead of paper. This makes them far more resistant to moisture and mould than standard plasterboard.
The boards serve as a substrate behind facade finishes such as composite panels, timber, PVC siding and brick-effect cladding. They are also used for soffits, balcony ceilings and semi-open areas. They cut with standard drywall tools and are fixed with screws.
