Description
XPS (extruded polystyrene) is a closed-cell insulation board with very low water absorption and high compressive strength. That makes it suitable for foundations and basement walls in contact with soil, flat roofs and terraces, and under floor screeds. XPS boards fall under TS EN 13164, and ship-lap edges help reduce thermal bridging at joints.
Stone wool is a mineral wool made by melting volcanic rock at high temperature and spinning it into fibres, and it is covered by TS EN 13162. Classed as non-combustible (A1), it is preferred for facades and buildings where fire safety matters. Because it also absorbs sound, it is used in partitions, suspended ceilings and roofs.
